Artist Statement Olivia Stone Long originates from Austin, Texas and works out of North Carolina where she currently resides with her husband.
There’s a tangible, lived-in quality to my collections of work. Hand mixing custom textures and layering color allows for my pieces to create a sense of visual familiarity and connection that can change a space. My work is a constant study of the storytelling relationship between texture and color.
Blurred botanical influence can commonly be found within my work described as ‘undefined anecdotes often defined by the harmony of surface and hue.’ The goal of my work is to convey a meaningful familiarity that draws a collector back to a cherished moment they once lived in with a loved one or treasured place.
From the olive tree on my childhood front porch to blurred nods of old worn in memories, my work invites collectors to sit and stay a while in recollections of moments in time.
